4.) Bro. Michael Mick-Man Gourdine aka The Candyman

Author, Former Chilli Pimp & Considered The 3rd Most Corrupted Cop In NYPD History

Author Of "Chili Pimping In A.C." Talks About Days As 3rd Dirtiest Cop In History
Chili Pimping in Atlantic City describes how Gourdine developed the stomach for the pimping game, became a corrupt cop, learned the pimping trade and survived on the mean streets. The author paints vivid profiles of some the interesting characters he meets along the way. He concludes with some hard lessons. “The best way to steer a young boy away from pimping is to change his environment,” Gourdine writes. “If a young boy is starving, living without heat in his house, with no real men around him, guess what he’s going to take when he sees the first person who he deems the best fit to survive in his dismal circumstances? And believe you me, he will not be a law abiding citizen.”

Dean James Earl McLeod
7/26/1944-9/6/2011

“What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.”
~Albert Pine

"Know that you are valued by not how much money you make, titles that are bestowed or what you own but rather by how many lives you have touched and enriched with your presence, passions and talents which are priceless on their own…One ♥!"~r2c2h2

On Tuesday afternoon of September 6, 2011, when I just learned that my mentor made his transition, words at that moment could not do justice on how I felt about the one and only Dean James Earl McLeod…
Although he lost his battle with the Big C, he won his place of honor alongside the Big G…

Although he operated at an elite institution, Dean McLeod was more inclusive than exclusive…He had a way of bringing everyone together with his quiet dignity and humble demeanor…He was the glue that held bonds together, the mortar that cemented bricks to create institutions of excellence and the soil that made new growth and bountiful harvests possible…He was more interested in creating relationships than collecting assets…

What I loved about Dean McLeod was that he accepted people for who they were and where they were at and not necessarily what he, the John B. Ervin Scholars Program, Wash U., nor society wanted them to be…He had a genuine love of people and all of their quirks as you will…I personally know that I am not everyone’s cookie cutter or cup of tea representation of what an Ervin should be…I am not necessarily the one they would send out to recruit other potential Ervins like me per se, but Dean McLeod had a genius for finding value where others just found trouble, difficulty or a waste of time…

I would like to thank everyone for attending my show both in person and in spirit…It was beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Bro. Byron aka Lord Byron aka Mr. B. wowed us with his incredible word play and mastery of a poetic phrase as well as got our heart strings and tear factory going with his emotional tribute to Dean McLeod. People were moved by the art, enjoyed the gallery talk by yours truly, and drank and ate delightful delectables merrily into the night!

I would like to thank my mentors George Sams and Giuseppe Pirone for letting me get my shine on in their wonderful gallery space, the beautiful ladies in my life Callie Herd, Molisa Thomas, Kathryn Bentley, Dail Chambers, Chinyere Oteh, Denise Ward Brown & Freida Wheaton for showing a brother some love and tenderness…Also my supportive parents in creative spirit, Black pride and spunk, Mama D. & Papa Henry Morrowloving for always being true first responders and supporters of their creative prodigal RonSon...My brother from another mother, Travis McAllister aka T-Mac for being the loyal and honorable soldier that he is and for always making his comrade feel at home whenever I hit the STL…

Special shoutout goes to Jeff Pike for showing me true peer respect and admiration and who in my opinion will always be the Dean of the WU Art School…Another special shoutout goes to jazz legend Charles Bobo Shaw for making the show even more memorable and edutaining!
